The rolling nature of the terrain in the Pisa Conservation Area can make it very easy to get lost. The distances are large and in poor visibility and high wind (both are not unusual), navigation can be very difficult. Weather can change quickly, be sure to know the forecast. Backcountry skiers need competent navigation skills. The winds accelerate across the tops and you would not be the first person to resort to crawling on hands and knees.
